Why Probiotics Important?

Hello everybody, this is Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place.

Today's video is about the importance of probiotics.

Now, probiotics live in our gut, and they help our body function.

They can help with digestion, but they also help with many different aspects of our health that most people aren't aware of.

First and foremost, 95% of serotonin is made in the gut, and serotonin is a neurotransmitter used by our brain and our body that can affect mood shortages, or decreased levels of serotonin can contribute to depression and anxiety.

So, making sure we have adequate probiotics or healthy probiotics in our gut can affect the production of serotonin.

So, that's an important thing to know about probiotics.

Second, 70 to 80 percent of the immune cells that we have exist in the gut, so a balanced gut environment, having a healthy environment, and having healthy probiotics that live in there can affect the function of our immune system.

The other things that I like to talk about when it comes to probiotics, and some people think, "Oh, I'll just take a pill every day."

The vast, vast majority of probiotic capsules are worthless.

They don't work.

They're not living.

Where To Get Probiotics?

So I like to consult my patients on getting living sources of probiotics, raw, live sources of probiotics, and here are just a few examples of where you can get probiotics just from eating this every day. The first one is Kefir.

Kefir is a cultured dairy beverage.

It's very similar to yogurt, but it's a little more potent, a little stronger, and has stronger probiotics.

I make a kefir smoothie every morning because I make kefir at home using raw milk from our local raw milk dairy farms.

So you can do this at home.

You can even purchase kefir at grocery stores like Sprouts, Safeway, and Nancy's Kefir is a popular brand of kefir that has billions and billions of living probiotics in every cup that you drink.

So, I recommend adding kefir to the diet. It's a wonderful source of probiotics; as you know, it affects all these other aspects.

Kombucha, there's a lot of different kombuchas out there.

I go with GT's raw kombucha.

I've always liked their product, but that's another source of living probiotics that get right into your gut when you consume it.

Kimchi, that's a Korean product, it's very similar to sauerkraut.

So, getting these in their raw form, we use cultures to break them down and make those products, so you get probiotics every time you ingest them.

And another one is yogurt.

Having yogurt throughout the week can help boost our probiotic health, but I would have various.

If you can, many doctors recommend probiotic food daily to help boost your probiotics because of its significant effect on so many different things.

Outside of that, another thing that adds to keeping the probiotics already in your gut healthy is eating different colors of fruits and veggies.

We know that the different colors in those can affect the vitality of the probiotics in your gut.

Eating various fruits and vegetables keeps our probiotics healthy, so hopefully, you've learned something about this: probiotics contribute to many different aspects of our health.

It's a very important part of our health.
