Understanding Adult-Onset Scoliosis
MARCH 15, 2023
Hello everyone. This is Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place. Today's video is about Adult Onset Scoliosis. Typically, we see scoliosis start in children, it's unknown how it starts, but it typically forms during childhood and then can progress as children grow. With adults, if they've never had it, they kind of have this onset of a scoliotic curvature. Most of the time, it's due to degenerative changes, arthritis in the spine, degenerative disc disease, problems there, and probably an old trauma that happened. Then that starts to wear out and develop arthritis, which can start changing the curves. So this is usually the cause of something like adult onset scoliosis, something very important, obviously getting that regular exercise, keeping the spine moving is very, very important when you have adult onset scoliosis or degenerative changes in the spine, you want to exercise and get that tissue moving to keep circulation to it, which will slow down that wear and tear, that wear and tear process that you're seeing.
The third thing that I want to talk about is the chiropractic care aspect of this because if this is the number one cause of why this is happening, chiropractic care can do a lot to help keep those degenerative joints moving properly to help break free scar tissue in that area and to get that tissue moving so that you slow down that wear and tear and keep that healthy, it can really help with the quality of life with people who suffer with adult onset scoliosis.
So if you haven't seen a chiropractor and you've been diagnosed with Adult Onset Scoliosis, it's a really good idea to be evaluated to determine if there is a chiropractic course of care that might be able to benefit you. Taking a look at chiropractic as an option, if you have this, is a great idea. I am Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place.
