Chiropractic Care: Prevention or Pain Relief?
July 29, 2022
Hello everybody. This is Dr. Aaron Seton with The Chiropractic Place. We're doing another video today. This video is about chronic pain and vitamin D levels. Believe it or not, this has been looked at, and this study was published in the British Medical Journal in 2005. It's a very prestigious medical journal. These were really cool findings that these researchers had when talking to patients with chronic low back pain>, specifically chronic non-specific pain. So they found that 93% of the 150 patients that they looked at, 93% of them that had persistent non-specific musculoskeletal pain and vitamin D deficiency. That's a strong correlation there. So that's something that a lot of doctors aren't discussing with their patients, even a lot of chiropractors, are not even discussing that with their patients. So when we're seeing people with chronic pain, if they're not responding to, say, chiropractic care or any other traditional kind of medical care, this is definitely something for patients with chronic pain to be aware of. This is a pretty big factor, and if this could be possibly resolved by increasing your vitamin D levels to a healthy level, it's something to be factored in.
Especially if you've been struggling with chronic pain for a long time and you've been dealing with that, and no one's looked at that, that's a very simple blood test to order to get results on your vitamin D levels. Another thing if you've never even looked at chiropractic care, that is a very important thing to consider as well. In our office, we do a complete exam, we do full x-rays, and try to find out what the underlying issue causing some of these chronic pain issues. So that's another thing for you to consider if you haven't done chiropractic care or looked at it. That's another option, but also keep in mind, if this is something you haven't looked at as part of your care, it's worth exploring because vitamin D deficiency is clearly showing a pretty strong correlation here with people who have persistent non-specific musculoskeletal pain.
