Frequently Asked Questions

When should someone see a chiropractor?

Chiropractic care should be part of our regular health and wellness plan. Many people start seeing a chiropractor when they’ve developed some kind of ache or pain. A better approach is to start utilizing chiropractic care to prevent spinal wear and tear and chronic pain from happening. Regular chiropractic care can also help your body function at a much higher level.

Is visiting a chiropractor during spring a good time?

It is good to get regular chiropractic care during spring time. Most families are doing a lot of mowing and weed whacking and gardening. It is important to take care of your spine during this time.

It’s Official!

It is officially springtime now, so I wanted to review a couple of things with the office we see around this time of year for us to touch on.

We will see a lot of increase in yard work; people are pulling weeds, weed racking, and mowing.

So it is important.

Repetitive motions involve a lot of lifting and bending, so be careful when doing yard work.

I recommend that Carhartt make some nice pants for my patients.

They also have these little memory foam knee pads that you can insert right where the knees are.

What I encourage patients to do is, if you can get a pair of pants like that, the Carhartts with the knee pads in them, that way you're able to take a knee if you're pulling weeds or doing anything down in the dirt, it allows you to preserve kind of and protect your low back because every year around this time.

I see a ton of lower back injuries and low back sprain strains from people doing repetitive motion and repetitive bending because they're unable to bend and kneel.

Avoid Low Back Sprain Strains

One of the things that I recommend is getting something to where you can kneel.

At home, my wife knows my favorite work pants are my Carhartts.

You can slide these little knee pads underneath the pants.

It's like you're kneeling on a Tempur-Pedic pillow; it's comfortable and can help your lower back. So that's what the yard work is.

The next thing we'll see is that allergy season is hitting.

Keep Your Neck And Ears Adjusted

One of the things that are important with chiropractic care is keeping your neck and keeping your ears adjusted.

Believe it or not, many people don't know that we can adjust ears, which helps with drainage in your sinuses.

So, if you have yet to hear of that, we do this all through this season, as well as cold and flu season, to help with drainage of the sinuses and to keep things moving.

It can help.

It's not a replacement for allergy medicine, but it can help keep this stuff moving and your body functioning at a higher level.

Increase Vitamin D Intake

The last thing is Vitamin D levels.

Last winter and this winter, we had some long rainy seasons.

From the labs I am seeing on patients with shallow Vitamin D levels right now, many people make sure they're getting out there 20-30 minutes a day, which can help perk up your vitamin D levels.

This can affect your mood, hormones, and immune function.

While we're getting into that sunny season, ensure you're getting 20-30 minutes of sunlight that activates and makes vitamin D active in your body—another good dietary source for vitamin D during the season, including wild salmon.

There's nothing higher in vitamin D that you can eat other than wild salmon.

Getting those Vitamin D levels up will help lift people's moods from the winter blues and help them function on many different levels.
