I Feel Fine… So Why See a Chiropractor?
Frequently Asked Questions
What are some specific benefits you've seen in patients who receive regular chiropractic care, even when they’re not in pain?
The benefits to patients who receive regular chiropractic care include better sleep, better range of motion, less pain, more energy, and better quality of life.
Can you explain how chiropractic care supports the nervous system and overall health, beyond pain relief?
Chiropractic care keeps the spine moving. Proper movement in the spine helps keep the nervous system working properly. When the spine isn’t moving properly, it can put pressure on the nervous system, affecting the nerves.
What would a proactive chiropractic care plan typically look like for someone wanting to maintain long-term health?
A good rule of thumb for a proactive chiropractic care plan is seeing your chiropractor once a month. Some people choose to come more frequently because of how they feel. Everyone is different. It’s best to discuss with your chiropractor to determine the best care plan for you.
I Feel Fine… So Why See a Chiropractor?
Hello everybody, this is Dr. Aaron with The Chiropractic Place. Today I wanted to talk about this common phrase that I hear in my office, I feel fine. So long as I do this, Doc, I feel fine. So there's no reason for me to come in. And usually what I'm hearing is that that person wants to come in when they're in pain, which is totally fine. But I try to explain to all my patients to make sure that they have a firm grasp of what they're choosing when they do that.
What they're saying is, I'm only going to come in when I have symptoms. That is their choice; that is their right to make that decision. But with chiropractic care, going in consistently is what makes the biggest difference long term.
Now, the patients who typically do that are proactive people. They really want to keep themselves healthy as they get older, and they understand the concept of preventative maintenance. So when they're coming in for chiropractic care, they may or may not have pain, they may or may not hurt.
They're coming in typically as part of an ongoing plan to keep themselves functioning the best they can. And that's where chiropractic can really shine. Don't get me wrong, it's really great too at helping people with pain.
But where it really thrives is in maximizing our health potential, keeping our spine and our nerve system healthy so that we can function at our best throughout our entire life. And I have example after example after example of this in my office. I've been practicing now, I'm on my 19th year in practice, and I have seen my patients as they have aged.
And the patients that have been coming in on some kind of consistent basis always are reporting back to me how they're functioning much better than their friends and family at the same age. I have patients in their 80s that still split wood by hand because they've been under regular chiropractic care and they function well and they take care of themselves. Now, chiropractic's not the end-all be-all, but it certainly should be utilized more than just when you're in pain.
And if you feel fine, that doesn't necessarily mean you want to ignore getting chiropractic care. And this can be seen in multiple disciplines. You know, going to the gym only when you hurt would not make sense for your overall exercise plan, right? Your doctor even, your medical doctor doesn't want to see you just when you hurt.
They would like to see you at least annually to make sure you're doing labs and catching something before it's a problem. Because a lot of times, symptoms are the last thing to show up. So it's important to have a proactive approach to chiropractic care.
Hopefully this makes sense. Why some people choose to continue consistent chiropractic care is because they want to be proactive about their health and they want to maximize their health potential and how they function, not just treats pain and symptoms. I'm Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place.
