My Chiropractic Story

Frequently Asked Questions

You mentioned the body’s innate ability to heal—how do you educate skeptical patients about that philosophy in a world that leans heavily on medication and surgery?

Our bodies have an innate ability to heal. Any healing that takes place, whether we have a surgery, medical treatment, or use natural methods, requires the body’s participation. Chiropractic care utilizes this innate healing ability to help the body function better.

What role do lifestyle factors like exercise and posture play in complementing chiropractic treatment and preventing future injury?

Lifestyle plays a very important role in in our health and well being. Regular exercise, eating healthy, regular sleep, and drinking water will all complement chiropractic care and help prevent future injury.

Looking back, how did your personal experience as a patient shape the way you now approach patient care in your own practice?

Starting as a chiropractic patient helps me better understand what patients are going through. My recommendations are always designed to help the patient improve their condition and maximize their health.

My Chiropractic Story

Hello everybody, this is Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place. Today's video is about my chiropractic story. So I got started with chiropractic care when I was around 19 years old.

I was working out quite a bit at the gym going to college and then I noticed some back pain that I started to have and over the next couple of weeks that back pain significantly progressed. Severe back pain and I started getting radiating pain down my left leg to where it was trouble for me to walk. I would sometimes be kind of limping on my left leg, always felt numbness and tingling down and it turned out that I had herniated a disc at L5-S1 in my low back.

So at the time I didn't really know much about chiropractic care. I went to the medical doctor and they told me there's not much we can do for it. You can take pain medication but you're just going to have to kind of get through.

Well I didn't really like that answer. I was like there's got to be something more proactive that I could do. They didn't recommend anything other than just pain pills and basically ride it out until it was gone.

So I started looking into a friend of mine told me about a chiropractor and so I started going to the chiropractor at that time and after that first adjustment I received I noticed a significant improvement in my symptoms. They weren't gone but it was significantly better after that adjustment. And over the course of the next few months I was going to the chiropractor at least once a week and then doing the exercises that the chiropractor told me to do and I noticed significant improvements each week in my low back and in that radiating pain into my leg.

You know I was a college student at the time. I was working a lot as well so I needed to be able to function and perform so that I could get going where I was trying to go in my life. And so I was very grateful to my chiropractor at that time and it really made me start to think like hey this is a pretty cool career.

This guy gets to help people all day long. You know when I'm in the waiting room I used to get to talk to the other patients that were there when I was 19 and you know they were so happy to be there and see him and I just thought wow chiropractic care is really cool. I mean we're doing all this stuff for patients.

They're very happy. We're not using drugs. We're not using surgery.

We're helping utilize our body's own innate ability to heal itself and provide chiropractic care to these patients and watch them get better. So I began having conversations with that chiropractor about you know what how long it took to go to school all of those things because I was already beginning to explore it and I changed my career right after that maybe six months into chiropractic care and I've never looked back and I've been a chiropractor since 2006 so I've been practicing for 19 years in chiropractic. I'm just as excited about chiropractic care as I was back then.

I come to work on Monday excited and ready to go and ready to serve my patients because I see the power of chiropractic every day that I'm here. I get to see people get better, stay better and try to maximize their health and then take a proactive approach with their health so that they can live a better more productive better quality of life. So that's my chiropractic story you guys.
